Of course I had to respond with my true, dark and sometimes creepy/horrific romantic inclination, with normally satisfactory endings, not HEAs, and suggest a few more suitable romance authors for the auspicious post. Gossip Girl responded she liked my version of romantic, and so . . I'm at Gossip Girl today posting on love, romance, and my twisted version of Cupid.
Teaser to the post:
So what comes to mind when you hear or think about Romance? Do you immediately reach for the chocolate and roses? Or conduct an on-line search for an exotic location at a beach full of bronze bodies in speedo's and golden haired beauties wearing barely a string bikini? (I'm not showing my age here, am I?) Or perhaps you're one of those unbelievers that run screaming from the concept of romance with a declaration you're the most un-romantic person ever to exist?

And . . . .
Author Jessica Bell (Alliterative Allomorph) asked for bloggers to share her new book trailer.
Cool huh?

Already visited your guest spot today!
I'm flying over.... /flapshisangelwings/....
I like non-HEA endings. Yep. And I write 'em too.
Will go see what came from thee.
Hi, Donna,
I just read your guest spot..... Really enjoyed it. I remember your cupid story... LOVED it!
Great post on romance. Sorry, I got carried away and jumped on a soap box. Bad day! :)
You're fast Alex.
Dezzy; I can so see you in angel wings.
Laura: yay for realists.
Thanks Pat ;)
Thanks Michael. I hope you enjoy the re-write when it comes out.
That's OK Yolanda; you helped me make my point. I enjoyed the rant.

On my way over!
P.S. February 15th is the best day ever because all of the candy is on sale :)
Twisted is good!
Heading over!
Intriguing!
You know, for the longest time I had no idea what HEA stood for. Finally one day I figured it out, and I felt so much smarter. "Happily Ever After." I wish more writers would stop using abbreviations like HEA. They are not friendly to people who may "stumble" across your blog through a google search engine result.
And now I'm heading over to read what is on the other website :).
Donna, You can not hide the romantic in you (smile). Great write as always.
Interesting, not being a romance reader or writer, having no knowledge of the HEA concept. I guess I just assumed all romance ended with happily ever after. If I did write romance, I think I would prefer a more complicated ending as well. But I'm more cynical, which is why I'm not writing romance.
Good thinking Samantha :)
Charmaine: cool, huh?
Thanks Cherie and Susan.
Michael: hey, you stop with all the huge scientific talk, and I'll speak without abbreviations. LOL. You should see me at my day job; you'd have to work there at least a year before you understand everything said in the unit meetings.
REally David? Romantic? Thanks for the smile.
Nigel; I love a cynical ending. Something complicate, and heart breaking for its injustice. Maybe a little blood and mayhem :)
