THREE IS ENOUGH

Three is enough, right? Three queries? For now.

Its not so difficult researching and finding the agents. Nope; the scary thing is pressing the SEND button. Once that thing is out in the wide world, the nerves start ticking. I stared at each personalized query for several minutes before getting the courage to click send.

So; three for one day is plenty.

But I've met other goals.

- Finished the beta read and sent off the critique. She says "thanks."
- Read and critiqued the submissions for my writers group meeting today. Arrived early and prepared. Go Donna!
- Well into completing the final edits for the book I'm querying.
- Got some research done on the fantasy even if its not on paper. Yet.
- Did not let the Magic Match game distract me. Much.
- Forgot to tend to my own blog, but visited a lot of friends out there (waves to the blogverse).
- Talked with my brother and sister and checked out motels for the trip.

Looks productive all written out like that, huh? Yep, feeling pretty good about the progress on my vacation goals. So, a reward for myself is due. Nah, not the game (well, maybe a little).

Don't forget Ashley Ladd's Charity Auction blogfest on June 1. Ashley's new erotica novel debuts Monday, May 31, and in celebration she is hosting a blogfest. I haven't got all the details yet from Ashley; but when I do, you'll be the first to know.

Until then, have an excellent, long Memorial Day weekend everyone.

One Two Three BAM! Congratulations, I'm so proud of you. And good for you for getting all that other work done too! That's totally great. I'm still stuck but had an idea yesterday that might work, I just have to sit down and do it. Happy Weekend!

I spent yesterday on queries, too, and had the same feeling. After sending out four, I felt wrung out--completely depleted (Needed a serious infusion of chocolate)

"So what's so hard?" I asked myself. The research? No. That's kind of fun. Besides I feel I kind of know many of these agents from following their blogs and tweets. Is it revising my query for the 40th time? Tweaking that first paragraph for the 400th?

No. It's pushing that damned send button. The finality of it. The cringemaking thought you might have made a mistake in spite of the endless proofing. Or that she's changed her preferences without putting them on her website and she'll tweet about what an idiot you are for not reading her mind. A million worst-case scenarios go rushing through my brain at the moment I hit that button.

So good, take a couple of days off. I think I need to do that too.

I've been working on queries too - although I'm not done with the revisions yet - and I still need to do more agent research.

Congrats on sending them out - that's the absolute hardest part!

Good luck, Donna.

I remember sending out queries to agents... followed by queries to publishers.

And great video choices!
